Bible Study Tools
Studying the Bible has taken a giant leap in the last few years, thanks to software makers and websites that offer exhaustive study materials and resources that used to be available only from the bookstore. Today there is a wide range of ways and means to deepening one’s understanding of the Word of God and they are all available through the Internet.
Bible Softwares
e-Sword. The e-Sword Bible study software was the brainchild of Rick Meyers’ passion for the Word of God and interest in programming. Version 1 first appeared in 2000 and is now its current release version 7.9. The software has been downloaded more than million times since its creation.
I have been using e-Sword for more than 4 years and is a very handy study tool for various reasons:
- It’s free;
- It offers a wide array of Bible versions - more than 80 translations and versions!
- It has 18 free commentaries from different authors
- The King James Version is completely referenced with Strong’s Concordance
- It is very easy to use and upgrade.
e-Sword also is now also available in its mobile version for those who want to bring the tool and study the Word on-the-go. It is also free.
Bible Explorer. Bible Explorer is another software that offers great features. It offers both free and paid plugins to build one’s library of Bibles, commentaries, etc. But its unique feature is the discussion groups where one can directly connect with other Bible Explorer users to share ideas with one another.
Other Bible softwares available on the Internet are:
Online Tools
Doing a Google search on “bible study tools” brings one to some of the most popular online Bible study tools. They are very handy if you’d rather not install any software in your PC and do your research online instead. They offer more than the Bible, having a library of commentaries, dictionaries, devotionals and select reading from different authors.
Bible Gateway. Bible Gateway is a straight-forward, clean and easy to navigate Bible search website. One can also choose his or her preferred version of the Bible.
Study Light. Study Light is an exhaustive source of study materials offering commentaries, dictionaries, encyclopedias, history, lexicons and audio resources, to name a few. The site is very interactive and offers various ways of surfing all of its contents.
LifeWay Biblical Solutions. LifeWay offers a simple way of searching Bibles, commentaries, etc. It is straight-forward in its design but does not offer many resource materials.
Message Software
Voice of God Recordings, Inc. has come up with a very helpful software for those studying the end time Message. The Table is an application that offers both the Message and the Bible (KJV) in one platform.
The Message section is an audio and text database of all the available sermons preached by the late servant of God WIlliam Branham from 1947 through 1965. The Bible section offers the King James Version in cross-reference with Hebrew and Greek lexicons.
The Table also comes up with an online version.
The Table does not come free.
