The Prophet’s Reward
In my years of ministering I have never found one denominational Christian who talks very highly of prophets. Indeed, many Christians today stand in doubt of any ministry that leans on the prophetic side. They have been made to believe that it is better to stay away from any one who claims to be a prophet for fear of being deceived.
Jesus Christ Himself gave us the warning to beware of false prophets and false Christs. The end time will be full of them. And it is true. But we also understand that false prophets are copycats of the true prophetic ministry from God. Jesus also tells us that the days of the Son of Man will be manifested once more in the last days. It will not be a secret thing nor will it take place in some remote or secluded place. He likened those days to a lightning whose light spreads from one part under heaven to another part under heaven. In other words, most of the whole world, if not all, will have some kind of information about this event when it finally takes place.
This prophetic day was fulfilled in our day in the life and ministry of the late William Branham. His life was vindicated by the powerful manifestation of the signs and wonders that Jesus Himself performed while on earth. His ministry was confirmed a number of times in the eyes of the public. One was during his baptizing a person on the Ohio River where a light shone from heaven and an audible voice was as saying: “As John the Baptist was sent to forerun the first coming of Christ, you are sent with a message that will forerun His second coming.”
Hundreds of photos, written and living testimonies could attest to the veracity of those supernatural days. Still many stand in doubt. Their minds, apparently, have been seared with the hot iron of denominational creeds that they fail to see the great work of God in our day.
Jesus did not only warn us against false prophets. He also taught us that blessings will come our way when we receive God’s prophets. Jesus said: “He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward…” (Matthew 10.41) And what kind of rewards do they bring? Wisdom and understanding of the works of God in the present and the near future. This is especially important in our time as we see events transpiring on a global scale.
An old king of the Israelites also said: “Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.” (2 Chronicles 20.20) In other words part of believing God is our acknowledging His prophets who speak in God’s behalf. If believe in God we should also believe in those whom He chose to deliver His Word.
